Living with Art and Art within Living: Household at PS²

PS², Belfast and various locations
2014/15

In 2014/15, Belfast based gallery PS² invited Household to undertake a year-long curators-in-residence position. Research and development activities included studio visits and conversations with local practitioners; meetings with Situations and other Bristol-based art organisations; and research travel to Glasgow International and the Liverpool Biennial.

As part of PS²’s ‘Community as Artist’ programme for 2015, on Saturday 8th April Household collective invited peers and audiences to discuss and share new research for Living with Art and Art within Living, an afternoon of conversations.

The collective presented ideas and case studies from individual and collaborative research compiled as part of their year-long residency at PS². Topics discussed included art in public and private spaces, the politics of the home, the power of hospitality, and both historical precedents and contemporary models of self-generated artistic communities and neighbourhoods. Homemade Household refreshments were provided throughout.

This event was supported by Belfast City Council and supported by PS².
